Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky lashed out at President Donald Trump on Friday after the White House announced an agreement allowing Russia to export diesel, accusing the American president of unfairly benefiting Vladimir Putin. But while Zelensky expressed outrage, Trump defended the agreement, declaring he was happy with the deal and signaling his willingness to pursue a different diplomatic approach to the war.
Zelensky described the agreement as a birthday present for Putin and questioned what the United States gained from allowing Russian diesel exports. His criticism comes as Trump pursues negotiations with Moscow while American and Ukrainian representatives meet in Florida to discuss potential pathways toward ending the war.
